After: Additional cabinet space was gained by installing the pantry cabinet and opening up a partial wall that had previously divided the kitchen and the dining area...
Above: The in-wall coffee maker was donated by Lance Larkin. “I was fortunate to meet the engineer, Mark Kruskopf, who designed this wonderful product. All you do is add coffee! And Marissa’s father Bob, an avid coffee lover, couldn’t be more pleased with this convenient time saving product” says Ragan Corliss. Plumbing services were donated by Marc Hollingsworth of Hollingsworth Plumbing. Moldings were contributed by Suburban Door and McCoy Millwork, and installed by TrimTek.
Below: Ragan Corliss, gave Johanna Annable, of Johanna’s Design Studio, cart blanche with refinishing the kitchen doors under style and color guidelines. Corliss says “Annable’s creative refinishing of the plain white hollow doors into classic works of art is truly spectacular and greatly adds to the charm of this kitchen.” According to Annable “The transformation of these two kitchen doors represents the importance of continued education in specialty decorative art classes offered by internationally known and decorated artists such as Leslie and Nicola Vigini of Vigini Studios, who donated the exquisite Cherub Stencil and where Johanna learned "faux bois" and Trompe L’oeil. The Cherub's graceful curves mimic the movement of the dining room chandelier. The second door was inspired by Melanie Royals and the Victoria Larsen Stencil Collections, as well as the 18th century technique of adding liquid gold highlights to the curves of the delicate designs.”

Below left: According to Corliss “The new doors donated by Kitchen Tune-up had a dark oak finish. I wanted to refinish the cabinets in order to give them a unique look and demonstrate how people can totally transform their kitchen cabinets with paint. Below right: The refinished cabinets with antique knobs donated by Hippo Hardware. “Changing out the knobs is another great way to simply upgrade the look of your cabinetry.” Corliss says.
Above: Dustin Holyk of Connily Enterprises helped us greatly in refinishing the cabinetry. Holyk is shown here beating and aging the new cabinets. Corliss says “The cabinetry refinishing was actually a huge team effort involving many volunteers helping with the sanding, priming, and then the more skilled people painting and applying the aging technique to the cabinets under the guidance of Johanna Annable. Refinishing cabinetry can be a fairly time consuming project, however the end results can be dramatically transformational if the right colors and faux techniques are utilized.”

Before the makeover Tracy said in a note to Corliss, “I have to admit that the timing on this dream make-over is good. A month ago I didn't feel this way! I was not at all excited about it in the beginning. I was trying so hard to be flexible and enjoy Marissa's wish. But it was not my wish, and it is a pretty big deal allowing people into your home to change it. As time goes on and I see how dedicated you and Jocelyn are, how passionate you are, how tirelessly you work, it just makes me excited. The team that I have met are such high quality people. It is an honor to be associated with them. I know I will never be able to thank you enough for all the love you have poured into our family, but know that our hearts are filled with gratitude for the grand gesture of a dream make-over.” Ragan Corliss says “I was really happy to look at the reveal event photos taken by Frank DeSantis and see the happiness in the family’s faces. Their happiness is the best reward we could have received for all the hard work!”
