Our dream team general contractor was Double J Construction, and Parkin Electric rewired the home. Interior design director for project interior was Ragan Corliss, Interiors by Decorating Den.

Above: A client of Corliss's
donated the solid wood Spanish dining table, but it was much too big and the
top needed refinishing. Consequently, John Phillips, of Phillips
Woodworking donated his fine woodworking skills to resize and refinish the
table top as well as inlay the beautiful black mahogany trim!
The rich, exotic look was continued into the dining room through refinishing the white moldings to the rich chocolate brown as well as a Venetian plaster applied to the walls, (by Johanna Annable of Johanna’s Design Studio, with the assistance of Eco Artisan Painting & Renovation). The addition of the new glass doors made a dramatic difference in the room, opening it up to the large, newly madeover back yard. A Cut Above Windows & Siding donated the new glass doors and the installation labor. Additionally through a collaboration of companies recruited by Scott Flury, of Custom Deck & Fence Maintenance, Inc. an outside deck was built… a long standing dream of the Huddleston’s.

Above center: The Asian credenza was donated by Denali International Furniture. According to Corliss, "It was originally a red color, but it didn't coordinate, so I repainted it with an antiqued affect." The ladder back chairs were donated by This-N-That, a used furniture and antique store, in Oregon City, OR, and then painted black. The seats were recovered by Designs by Ingrid in a leopard-like print.
According to Corliss, “ Ingrid stepped in at the last minute to help with the drapery panel fabrication for the dining room… she virtually sewed them overnight!” Additionally Ingrid fabricated the slipcovers for the other dining chairs, one of her specialties. “My goal was to find a fabric that resembled a khaki tan linen, reminiscent of an African safari, to add an adventurous feel to the room, tying it in with the exotic look at the same time.” says Ragan. The accessories were donated by Real Deals Home Décor and Ragan Corliss's, interior decorating company. “We re-used the slip covered chairs, which were previously being used outside under the covered patio. This room is a great example how you can achieve great results by combining high-end items such as the Quoizel light fixture and custom made fabric shades with bargains such as the chairs.” Anderson Fabrics Workroom donated the fabrication labor for the Roman shades, and Corliss's interior decorating company donated the fabric.
Above center: The new moldings were contributed by McCoy Stair and Suburban Door and installed by TrimTek. Corliss says “As you can see in the photos, the refinished floors turned out wonderfully.” The hardwood floors were refinished by Tony Summers, of Centrex Hardwood Floors, and Scott Avery, of Modern Tech Floors. “We were very grateful for their dust free process that really worked!” Corliss continues.

The beautiful chandelier, donated by Quoizel,
adds a great deal of drama when you walk into the dining room, as a large scale
fixture that is truly a jaw dropper. “It had just the style I was looking
for to add to the overall exotic feel of the décor” says Corliss.
“And wow, what a focal point it makes especially when combined with the
beautiful ceiling stencil!”
Above: The dining room original tapestry fine art was painted by Johanna Annable, of Johanna’s Design Studio. Green, gold and blue hues enliven the sense of space this tapestry makes in the dining room and coordinates with greenish tone used in the kitchen cabinetry. Corliss says “I provided the colors and certain style I was looking for, and Johanna masterfully, and quickly created the art!” Powdered natural pigments by Agalia and milk paints by Bioshield blend triumphantly for the background. Overlapped renaissance Lace stencil and Modellos donated from the Melanie Royal Design Collection, Leopard and Ostrich stencils donated by Faux Effects, and Victoria Larsen's palm frond and bamboo stencils are embodied into the elements of this original fine art.
Above: Decorative Painter Caroline Johnson-Bell, with the assistance of Nichole, a friend of the family, masterfully renders the gorgeous Melanie Royal's Renaissance lace medallion stencil in metallic Layers. Annable says “The finished medallion is an excellent example of how a small artistic touch can enhance the Interior Designer's choice of chandeliers and lead the eye up to the ceiling thereby enlarging the visual space of the room.”
Above: Johanna Annable, also a Certified Plaster Applicator of Fine Italian Plasters by Firmolux. Firmolux donated over $1000 of all natural lime plaster products from Italy for this project. Johanna selected authentic lime plasters for their value, beauty and health. Mastering the art of fine trowelled lime finishes is relatively rare in the world today. The techniques used on the Dining Room and Kitchen walls are old European traditional methods passed down through the generations and perfected by years of practice and study. Annable says “Creating beauty and history at the same time, the walls blend with the opulent chandelier and the antiqued kitchen cabinets to create timeless beauty.”
